The Swiss Nanoscience Institute at the University of Basel is offering a fully funded 4-year PhD position in quantum sensing, focusing on biomolecules using nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond and single-photon fluorescence. The PhD candidate will build an optically-detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) spectrometer, detect single particles, and conduct biocompatible experiments to study protein molecules and their chemical stimuli. The project aims to advance optical quantum sensing, contributing to single-molecule NMR of biomolecules, starting in the first half of 2025.
