Description

Queen Mary University of London is offering a PhD opportunity focused on understanding how humans perceive real and AI-generated faces, including deepfakes and humanoid robots. This project, supervised by Dr. Emma Stewart and Prof. Isabelle Mareschal, will investigate individual differences in face perception using behavioral, psychophysical, and eye-tracking measures. The research aims to uncover the psychological mechanisms behind how we recognize and interpret different types of faces, particularly in the context of evolving AI technologies. Candidates with a background in psychology, neuroscience, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of programming (Matlab, R, Python) and eye-tracking is advantageous but not required. This position is funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). The application deadline is January 29, 2025.
