The University of Edinburgh is offering a PhD scholarship to develop a physics-based mathematical model of water electrolysers aimed at improving hydrogen production efficiency, performance, and durability. The research will focus on simulating thermofluid interactions, two-phase transport, and electrochemical processes within a single-cell geometry, as well as model validation and identifying barriers to optimization. Ideal candidates will have a minimum 2:1 Honors degree in science or engineering, with preference given to those holding an MSc in a relevant field. Proficiency in English is required. Applications are due by January 1, 2025.
