Description

The University of Zurich is offering a PhD position in Neotropical Fish Palaeontology and Systematics as part of a Swiss National Science Foundation-supported project. The successful candidate will study the fossil record and evolutionary history of freshwater fishes, particularly catfish and cichlid clades. Research will include taxonomic and systematic work, comparative anatomical studies (using CT and 3D surface scanning), and fieldwork opportunities in South America. Applicants should have a Master's degree in Life or Earth Sciences, zoology, or palaeontology, with strong writing skills and a background in systematics and vertebrate anatomy.
