The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Space Physics to investigate ion-neutral coupling in the Earth’s upper atmosphere during geomagnetically active periods. The role involves conducting original research on large-scale traveling atmospheric disturbances (LSTADs), ionospheric disturbances (LSTIDs), and studying neutral wind responses. The successful candidate will run three-dimensional general circulation models, analyze simulation results, and compare data with models. Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in Physics or a related field, with expertise in ionospheric/thermospheric modeling and data-model comparisons. The position offers opportunities for independent and collaborative research, as well as mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
